About

Metchosin Farm is a ten-acre certified organic seed farm in rural Metchosin, near Victoria, founded in 2004 by ethnobotanist Fiona Hamersley Chambers and proudly woman-owned. The farm grows more than three hundred varieties of open-pollinated, non-GMO, hand-processed seed, spanning vegetables and grains, herbs, flowers, native plants and perennial fruits, along with rootstock, tubers, potatoes and tree cuttings, with an emphasis on restoring biodiversity in Canadian gardens and farms. Products are available through its online store, a seasonal farm stand and a network of retail partners across the country, and the farm also offers school tours and a customer loyalty program. In 2022 it launched the Forager Pet brand, a certified organic line of forage and enclosure enrichment for small pets that it says makes it the only Canadian supplier of its kind. The farm operates on the ancestral lands of the Beecher Bay Scia'new First Nation, whose long stewardship it gratefully acknowledges.
